Fertilizers and Soil for Cannabis

Growers add our Re-Vita Pro 5-4-5 to the top of our Elevated Potting Soil at Galenas certified kind grow, Canton, OH

Now that laws have changed, Cannabis, whether for industrial hemp, CBD, medicinal or recreational is growing all over the United States. Many growers are choosing to grow in living soil with organic methods for higher quality buds. The same products and consulting that have proven successful on organic farms for over 50 years are working on cannabis farms all over the mid west.

Medicinal and RecreationalThe first certified kind grower in Ohio, Galenas, successfully uses our living soils in veg and bloom phase!

Indoor growers have great success starting seeds or clones in The Seed Catapult with Endo Mycorrhizae then transplanting into the new Elevated Potting Soil. These soils provide a perfect balance of drainage, moisture retention, living soil biology and nutrients and can be used in certified organic or certified kind operations. Our soils contain a gentle charge of nutrients and minerals from composted chicken manure, sea kelp, fish, crab, rock minerals, humates and compost. To provide additional organic nutrients during the vegetative stage, water with a solution of 1-2 tablespoons of Jumpstart 5-1-9 or Jumpstart II with Mycorrhizae. Then at bud set apply 1 cup ReVita Pro 5-4-5 granular fertilizer per week and water in. Please see our Seed Starting Soil page for more details. Please contact us on email info@ohioearthfood.com or call our Ohio branch 330-877-9356 for delivery and pricing.

Disease and Insect Control - Like all crops, attacks from pathogens and insects can severely limit the yield of your Cannabis plants.  Marrone Bio Innovations has release a very effective disease control called Regalia that has a CG version that lists Cannabis on the label! Their Grandevo WDG insecticide CG also labels for Cannabis. We sold a bunch of both this year and received positive feedback. Please click the links to learn more.

Industrial Hemp - Around one thousand acres of industrial hemp were grown in 2019 using 500-1000 lbs. per acre of ReVita Pro 5-4-5. The balanced content of macronutrients (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Carbon, Magnesium and Calcium) and micronutrients (Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Boron, and Copper) with a nice dose of microbial biochemicals from the 7 week composing process, proved to be what Cannabis is looking for. We also add concentrated sea kelp for growth stimulation and humates to help in absorption through cell membranes.

There is plenty of discussion about pounds of nitrogen needed for hemp, but growers are finding that early root development, that is fed by Phosphorus and Potassium is just as important. Applying ReVita early, before you work the soil for the last time, before shaping raised beds, and allowing time for the microbes to make the nutrients available, was found to increase early vigor. Because Hemp takes up everything the soil, the good and the bad, growers appreciated the extremely low heavy metal content including arsenic, mercury and lead. We also received positive feedback about the way ReVita flowed through equipment.
